From the “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words” Department
Wonderful graphic on Lorcan Dempsey’s blog at OCLC about the place of the ILS in the larger network environment (though you also need to go to his blog to get the accompanying thousand words, which are pretty good too!)
This “big picture” is becoming increasingly important to Planet Library and its inhabitants and, refreshingly, he doesn’t seem to need the vulgarity of the titles of some other recent articles on OPACs such as
these on ALA Techsource and this one by Lori Bell and Tom Peters in Computers in Libraries. Pictures matter, but so do words, as far as I’m concerned: it’s nice to see that one can get still get one’s point across while sounding as professional as Mr. Dempsey always does.
