MySLIS

The second “outcome” of last fall’s KM/LIS 5433 class occurred this morning, when three intrepid students presented the joint findings of the class sub-groups that had explored the problems of the current website and the potential advantages of a redesign to our Infrastructure Committee, a few faculty, a few staffers, and the Director.

Special kudos to Jennifer Goade for doing a website mock-up showing the recommended changes (MySLIS) on her own time AFTER the class has been over for months, just to make them clearer to the audience, and for addressing some of the technical issues involved. Ken did a terrific job of introducing the class research on various aspects of the project and their specific recommendations, and Michelle helped heroically in trying to sell the idea (and ideas!) of students as stakeholders in the School’s information infrastructure.

I wish I could give them all additional “A”s for their efforts today.

Thanks for the recognition, Doc. And thanks to all our classmates who invested time and brain power, and offered expertise and passion in an attempt to to improve our school’s public persona, market it’s worth, AND increase our students’ usability, all the while offering administration a venue to share timely news about our school and students/professors. I’m looking forward to GREAT things as a result of this important infrastructure committee’s recommendation.

I appreciate the validation, Doc. I wish I had done a better job for my part, though Michelle & Ken were awesome, as usual. They continue to impress with their accomplishments and I look forward to seeing what else they choose to excel at. Thanks also to you for setting an example as the kind of teacher I would love to be if I ever get the chance.

    Thanks for your support, Doc.

If we were successful in this presentation it was only due to your pedagogical style, which allows students to thrive and test their limits under your apt guidance and tutelage.

Thanks for giving me (us) this opportunity to express our “stakeholder” interest in the OU SLIS program.

Finally, my thanks to all the un-named Fall 2007, KM/LIS 5433 classmates who expressed their desire to be heard by putting in significant time and effort on this project. You are truly a talented and gifted group!

Yes, any other KM/LIS 5433 students who happen to wander through here, please take a bow as well. I hope that I may have opened some doors, but you all were the ones who walked through them!
