(On the other hand, I’ve just ordered one of the limited-edition copies of Anthony Grafton’s The Codex in Crisis for the sheer beauty of his writing and the tactile appeal of the physical book, so at least I’m all-around-reckless….)

I’m not at all surprised about the fanfic one — only a matter of time, especially with Rowling’s lawsuit. What does surprise me is that Naomi Novik is involved. I’d no idea that she was so involved in fanfic before her own books came out. But knowing makes me like her books a bit more than I already did.
As for rclis, I’ve been subscribing to their E-LIS feed for a few months now and love the serendipity of it.
