The phrase “Library School 2.0″

… has not crossed my lips once this semester (it’s so last year, when I seemed to use it all the time), but darned if it’s not still all over me. If I’m not finding out about searchable full-text Jane Austen works in the “Republic of Pemberley” from someone posting about digital library sites, then I’m being asked to blog in detail about my theory of “digital convergence” (will “provenance” promulgate among cultural heritage institutions?) by someone else, or being compelled to wonder and worry why Desire2Learn doesn’t support student tagging or indexing of relevant discussion posts (which certainly seems like an excellent idea, though it probably infringes on Blackboard’s patent on everything in the known universe.) And don’t get me started about the class blog brain feed and how it can completely derail my thoughts into some totally new direction. It’s only the beginning of the third week of class, but it’s probably way too late for me to drop now….

Speaking of tags, are you requiring your digital collections folks to tag their posts with a particular word or phrase, so that interested parties might subscribe to that tag in their tag surfer? And if so, what is it?

    Hi Kirsten,

Hmm, people are tagging relevant items with “collections” but since we have a special feed set up for the class, I didn’t think to ask for anything more specific. If you’re interested in subscribing to the feed, I can email you that info.
